Serbian Wedding with Dragana and Dusan

Serbian Wedding with Dragana and Dusan

A Serbian wedding is almost always a traditional Serbian wedding, rich in customs and rituals that have been passed down through generations. It is customary for couples to get married in an Orthodox church. There are many such churches in Chicago and the surrounding areas. One of the customs in the church is that the couple walks around the table while their hands are tied.

How long is a serbian orthodox wedding ceremony ?

The ceremony includes many customs, from the lighting of candles held by the bride and groom at the beginning to the placing of crowns, with which they circle the table three times. The ceremony typically lasts around 45 minutes.

The best man (Kum) and maid of honor (Kuma) hold a significant role in the couple’s lives. They often become the godparents of the couple’s children, fostering a bond that connects their families across generations.

The Groom Has To Shoot Down An Apple.

Serbian marriage traditions it is customary that when the groom comes to pick up the bride, he must use some sort of weapon to knock down an apple that is tied up high.

Dragana and Dušan have been together for a long time, and we truly enjoyed capturing their beautiful Serbian traditional wedding. They make a lovely couple, and we wish them all the happiness in their life together. Here, you can see more Serbian weddings we’ve photographed.
